What is the Subclass 186 — ENS Visa?
The Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers nominated by an approved Australian employer. It is available in two main streams.
- Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream: For 482 visa holders who have worked for the same employer for at least 3 years full-time in the nominated occupation.
- Direct Entry (DE) Stream: For skilled workers nominated directly by an employer, without necessarily holding a 482 visa. Requires a positive skills assessment from a relevant assessing body.
Eligibility Requirements
- Nominated by an approved Australian employer
- Occupation on the MLTSSL (for most applicants)
- Skills assessment from the relevant assessing body (DE stream)
- Minimum 3 years full-time relevant work experience (varies by stream)
- English language proficiency requirements
- Under 45 years of age at time of application
